By the time of writing, the original news article posted on Filmflux had over 300 comments, all essentially asking whether Flipnote Memo, the successor to Flipnote Studio, will ever materialise or be released on the Nintendo eShop after Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo EAD General Manager announced the development of Flipnote Memo early in 2011. After contacting Nintendo, commenter "hannah90" found out that "they [Nintendo] are still working on it they [sic] want to make it perfect they [sic] dont [sic] have any specific date,". In answer to your question, we’re [Nintendo are] still working on a Flipnote application for the Nintendo 3DS. However, we don’t have any specific details on when this application will be ready for launch. As soon as we have more details, we will share the information on our website... In the meantime, you will be able to send messages to friends directly with the new Swapnote application coming in December 2011. Users will be able to hand write messages in 3D and include picture and sound. Below is a direct link to the first Nintendo Direct video featuring details about this and other holiday releases... Interstingly, Paxson insinuated in his response that Flipnote Memo may be able to remotely exchange, send and share "Flipnotes" in a similar fashion to the existing Nintendo Letter Box and Swapnote applications currently do, with the line "In the meantime, you will be able to send messages to friends", as well as including information about Swapnote/Letter Box when the application was not mentioned in the email sent to them.
