There is a family of five yellow people who have become household names. If you haven't heard of them, then you aren't worthy of being called a "human being". They go by the names of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. They live at 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. They have a dog called Santa's Little Helper and a cat called Snowball II. That's right, they are THE SIMPSONS.

The Simpsons has been a MASSIVE part of my life, as well as a MAJOR influence on modern society/pop culture. Not only is the longest running sit-com EVER (with almost 500 episodes over 22 Seasons) it is also the most AWESOME. END OF STORY. So it was a brilliant surprise when about 5 years ago in the cinema I saw, for the first time, a trailer for The Simpsons...MOVIE!! I literally E-X-P-L-O-D-E-D with excitement from that moment on, and I didn't even care about the film that I was there to see! But even after the trailer there was, like, a 100 YEAR WAIT before the film actually came out, but even THAT wasn't enough to kill my excitement.

EVENTUALLY the film was released in cinemas in July '07, and I immediatly went to see it, hoping that I wouldn't be dissapointed. I ended up seeing it not once...not twice...I saw the Simpsons Movie FOUR TIMES in the cinema, in the space of about two weeks. I think that makes it obvious whether I was dissapointed or not. (In case you are incredibly stupid, I WASN'T.) The magnificent "Itchy and Scratchy" short gets you hooked straight away, and the brilliant moment when the screen widens and the whole AMAZING vamped up Simpsons intro starts just shows you how EPIC the movie is going to be. Plus, within 5 minutes the first guest star (of many, MANY guest stars) features, none other than GREENDAY singing the THEME TUNE. 'NUFF SAID.

To summarise the movie, it is pretty much an extended episode of The Simpsons (following typical conventions: Re-occuring jokes, Homer screwing up, Bart being rebelious, Lisa being smart, Marge going 'Hrmmmmmgh' and Maggie, well, sucking.) but very much exaggerated and on a larger scale. But don't let that put you off seeing/liking it, though, because the funniness AND the awesomeness has been exaggerated, too. I've watched it on DVD so many times, also, and I still laugh when the hammer goes in Homer's eye, and that nude skateboarding sequence is GOLD (Despite briefly seeing Bart's penis :S) and every time I watch it, I notice more and more jokes in the movie that are HI-friggin'-LARIOUS. And it's not just good because it is "The Simpsons", it works as a movie on its own aswell. My only criticism of it was the lack of Sideshow Bob, and Kang and Kodos. But, to be fair, adding them in would have created to many side plots for the movie to follow, and they were already adding new characters anyway (Such as 'Boob Lady', Spider Pig, Russ Cargill) and all of the thousands of supporting cast are wedged in there too. Yes, that's right, even minor characters that only appear once or twice in the series get some Facetime. Milhouse, the Sea Captain, Moe, Barney and even Groundskeeper Willie are just some of the vast amounts of characters in the movie that all have their own funny bits! What's not to like?

The Simpsons Movie gives you everything a Simpsons fan could ask for, aswell as everything someone who wants to watch a bloody good film could need!

Finally, I'll leave you with some of my favourite quotes from the movie:

Marge: "I miss your Father."
Bart: "I miss him too...his big fat ass could shield us all!"

Marge: "How did the pig tracks get on the ceiling?!"
Homer: "Spider pig, spider pig, does whatever a spider pig does, can he swing from a web? no he can't he's a pig. Lookout, he is a spider pig!"

(Homer stick hammer in eye)
Homer: AARGH!
Bart: HAHAHAHAHA!
Homer: Why YOU LITTLE!
(Strangles Bart)
Homer: I'll...teach..you to laugh...at something...that's...funny!!!

Arnold Shwartzeneggar: I choose option 3!
Russ Cargill: Well don't you wan't to read them first?
Arnold Shwartzeneggar: I was elected to lead, not read.

Mayor Quimby: It's time to announce code black!
Lenny: Oh no! Black is the worst colour!...No offence Carl.
Carl: Ah, I get it all the time.

Marge: You filled up the (pig crap) silo in just 3 days?
Homer: Well, I helped...

Thanks for readingz xxx
