Who's a sexy beast? You are. yes, you. You might have already heard that Sony unveiled a new, lighter, budget PSP model at Gamescom this year. In a nutshell, all they've done is made it a bit larger, a bit lighter, replaced the stereo sound card and speaker with a monaural counterpart, and removed the ability to communicate on Wi-Fi Networks (802.11a/b/g). It'll only be available in PAL territories and finally, they've also coloured it in a snazzy charcoal black colour and matte surface to blend in better with the new PS3 models, and reduce fingerprints! Over at Gamescom this year we saw some very interesting things from a variety of Developers. Brand new trailers were released for some big upcoming games including Rayman Origins, Journey, Star Trek: Infinite Space, PES 2012, Forza Motorsport 4, Assassin’s Creed Revelations and many more.
There was also something that nobody was expecting, a very late unveiling of a Wi-Fi free PSP, known as the PSP E-1000 which is basically a cheaper version of the portable console due to less features (such as Wi-Fi capabilities). Sony have also made more price cuts for the PS3 and showed more footage of the highly anticipated Playstation Vita.
Battlefield 3 seemed to make a bigger impact at Gamescom than Modern Warfare 3 but that is most likely because Activision already know that their game will sell no matter how much or little they promote it at these kind of events.
All in all Gamescom 2011 has been arguably one of the better events for gaming this year, with a wide range of games being shown off in rich detail. Be sure to check out the trailers mentioned and other coverage from Gamescom, you won’t be disappointed!

Nowadays, we’re seeing more and more mainstream video games which are guaranteed sales through hype and promotion, yet turn out to lack any innovation or uniqueness. These games survive the short run, but are doomed to be lost in time, forgotten. For a console game to become critically acclaimed, it seems the trend to:
a) Pack as much blood and gore as possible b) Submerge the player into a clichéd storyline that sounds tolerable enough, while on reflection, it didn’t really sink in c) Offer a gimmick, which people get tired of and realise that the trailer perhaps made it sound too good d) Sometimes throw in a multiplayer which everyone will be super-glued to, and then after a while, claim to despise it after racking up several days playing time
Every blue moon, a game comes along which makes us question what makes a console game great, a game which asks us why we like it so much, and we can’t quite answer. A game that gives us a chance to prove to our peers: ‘Video games can be an art form, not just mind rotting, addictive running ‘n’ gunning for losers.’ Valve’s response to this was the phenomenon that was Portal.
Team Fortress is a team-based (obviously) First person shooter game made by the Valve Corporation for the PC, XBOX, and PS3 consoles. Its unique art style and team based gameplay have won it numerous awards, including PC Gamers’ most fun game of the Year Award. In the game, the player can choose from a selection of 9 different classes of Mercenary, who are being hired by two corporations called RED and BLU in an endless war against each other(the teams names count towards their colour) in a variety of different environments(snow, mountains etc.).
In Part 2/3 of this Team Fortress 2 Classes Explanation, Jason will be explaining the roles of the Demoman and the Heavy, in incredible detail!
PCB Shelved! Reasons in the open message! Pokémon Creepy Black Development has been shelved indefinitely due to reasons outlined below, in an open message from jet, the internet alias of the current leader of Team Creepy Black. Please click read more if you cannot see the following post.
The decision to not include any zombies in Resident Evil 4 was indeed brave, but not stupid, as the enemies instead are varied and interesting. We have just the typical murderous infected human, which could be seen holding a variety of sharp/pain-inflicting items, then we have the humans which walk around with the parasitic, spider-like creature bursting out of their head, and sometimes you get the tough-to-kill chainsaw wielding lunatics with a burlap sack over their heads (don’t let them get close). Much tougher mini-bosses can include ten-foot-tall giants, with an assortment of twisted as hell bosses to keep you entertained. Surprisingly, you may find the slightly cumbersome controls fit the fast-paced boss battles really well.

There is a family of five yellow people who have become household names. If you haven't heard of them, then you aren't worthy of being called a "human being". They go by the names of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. They live at 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. They have a dog called Santa's Little Helper and a cat called Snowball II. That's right, they are THE SIMPSONS.
The Simpsons has been a MASSIVE part of my life, as well as a MAJOR influence on modern society/pop culture. Not only is the longest running sit-com EVER (with almost 500 episodes over 22 Seasons) it is also the most AWESOME. END OF STORY. So it was a brilliant surprise when about 5 years ago in the cinema I saw, for the first time, a trailer for The Simpsons...MOVIE!! I literally E-X-P-L-O-D-E-D with excitement from that moment on, and I didn't even care about the film that I was there to see! But even after the trailer there was, like, a 100 YEAR WAIT before the film actually came out, but even THAT wasn't enough to kill my excitement.
Before I even begin talking about Resident Evil 4, let’s go back a bit to the series' roots. Resident Evil 1, 2 + 3 for the original PlayStation is without a doubt one of the most respected survival/horror trilogies ever conjured. It may also be an acquired taste. Hard as I try, I struggle getting into these games, for one reason and one reason only: the camera. I think both fans and non-fans can agree the oddly orientated, fixed camera could be better; the argument lies in whether it impedes the quality of gameplay. In my opinion, it makes it incredibly difficult to grasp the gameplay itself. However, it’s also argued that the stubborn controls as a result of the manipulative fixed-point camera make the survival aspect more intense. No conclusion will ever be made; Capcom couldn’t have adopted the exact same camera and control scheme for three consecutive games if they didn’t have a good reason. But, as a result of this, it’s impossible for me to review these games in any more depth.
